Sad you've gotten to the bottom of your favorite jar of Raven's Nest jam? Here's a silver lining for you - with a few pantry staples, you can turn that near-empty jar into a sweet and spicy salad dressing.
This recipe can be used with any flavor of jam you have on hand, but the beauty of using Raven's Nest jams is you'll get that "sweet with a little heat" flavor we're known for. It truly takes this recipe to the next level. For this recipe, we've used one of our best-selling flavors - Blackberry Jalapeño!
Toss with your favorite greens, some veggies, and add a little grilled chicken or shrimp to make it a meal. A perfectly refreshing addition to summer BBQ, or even just a night you don't want to turn on the oven this summer. Enjoy!
Bottom of the Jam Jar Vinaigrette Recipe
Vinaigrette Ingredients
- 1 T jam (we used our Blackberry Jalapeño for this recipe)
- 1/2 t. dijon mustard
- 2 T lemon juice
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- Salt + pepper to taste
Directions
Whisk all ingredients together in a small bowl and toss with your favorite greens and toppings. We used mixed greens along with grilled chicken, thinly sliced apples, candied walnuts, and goat cheese - delicious!
Pro tip: If you're nearing the bottom of your favorite jar of jam, save a dish and simply add the mustard, lemon juice, and olive oil directly to the jar. Shake well and toss with greens.
We love the versatility of this recipe and can't wait to try it with other flavors of jam, plus different toppings of course. We're picturing our hot peach tossed with sliced steak and sliced carrots our our mango habanero with grilled shrimp and bell peppers... the sky's the limit. Homemade salad dressing is just the best!
